There are many things to consider when shopping for an alarm and convenience systems. How much should I spend? What type of alarm should I buy? What is the difference between a $200 alarm and a $400 alarm?

One important factor to keep in mind is that a security system will not make your car invincible to thieves, but it will make it more difficult for them. If a professional thief wants your car or your car's contents, no matter how high end of an alarm you have it can still be defeated. However, a good alarm package with the proper installation is an effective deterrent.

The main difference now between a high-end alarm and a basic alarm system is communication. Two-way paging remotes, whether an LCD or LED transmitter, will notify you through audible and vibrating alerts if you are not within audible distance of your car's siren and your alarm is triggered. This is very important as nowadays sirens and alarms are consistently going off all the time and most people will not go out of their way to protect your vehicle. Aside from the remote communication, there are no significant differences between a high or low-end alarm. Other things to consider when selecting a system is the brand and product quality, using inferior products will only lead to false alarms, or malfunctioning components resulting in your alarm not being triggered if your vehicle is tampered with.
